A metric-bearing output names the metric, defines its units, justifies numerator and denominator, preserves the evidence for each count, performs the calculation, and marks uncertainty or non-computability. A metric-mimicking output retains a formula or technical vocabulary while inventing inputs, scores, denominators, retained units, or precision. The packet uses Provenance Erasure Rate as its central worked case. Quoting `PER = 1 − retained/required` does not constitute a PER measurement if the required claim units and retained provenance units have not been enumerated. The correct output under missing evidence is a refusal to compute a number, accompanied where useful by a qualitative audit. The packet is a terminological and procedural proposal. Its checklist is useful beyond the archive, but “Metric-Bearing Output,” “Metric-Mimicking Output,” and “PER Mimicry” are priority claims from this work rather than established field terms.
